General Board Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Mr. Bettag. Present were Directors Mr. Bettag, Mr. Schloss and Mr. Meyer, Chief Svetanics and Ms. Vincent. There were no Citizens of the District present.

The Pledge of Allegiance led by Chief Svetanics.

There were no additions to the agenda. Motion by Mr. Schloss to accept the agenda as presented, 2nd by Mr. Meyer, roll call vote Mr. Bettag aye, Mr. Meyer aye, Mr. Schloss aye.

Motion by Mr. Schloss to accept minutes from the general sessions of September 11, 2006 and September 20, 2006, and the executive session of September 7, 2006 as presented, 2nd by Mr. Meyer, roll call vote Mr. Bettag aye, Mr. Meyer aye, Mr. Schloss aye.

Mr. Schloss gave the treasurer’s report for the month ending September 30, 2006. Mr. Schloss reported that revenue is up $75,433 above budget for September 2006, mostly due to delinquent tax collections, increased interest income and ambulance fees. Mr. Schloss stated that actual expenditures compared to the budget for the ninth month of the year are at 74.0% and normal would be 75.0%, so these figures are right on target.

Mr. Schloss reported that we collected $30,894 in ambulance fees the month of September, which is $5,185 more than last year at this time. Mr. Schloss reported that we are $30,248 over the amount budgeted for the year.

Chief Svetanics reported that we received word that the Fire Act Grants are starting to come in, but that we have not had any word on ours as of yet.

Chief Svetanics stated that we have begun fall cleaning at the firehouse in anticipation of our Open House which is scheduled for Saturday, October 21, 2006, from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 p.m. The Box 8 Club will provide hotdogs and soda for the event as usual. We are offering free blood pressure checks, bike helmets and smoke detectors. We also have a few water/hose games for children to play along with fire helmets, coloring books, balloons, pencils, stickers, magnets and fire safety literature to hand out. We are hoping for a good turnout this year.

Chief Svetanics reported that since October is Fire Safety Month, beginning October 1st and continuing through the end of the month, each crew will be going door to door to install smoke detectors and checking batteries, along with giving area classroom talks. This is in preparation of Fire Safety Week, October 8th through the 14th, and so far this month, in just two weeks, firemen have installed 206 smoke detectors in the community.

Monthly reports presented on training by each crew member, maintenance report, fire incident report and summary, ambulance statistics, ambulance monthly lockbox report and MediClaims report, public relations report, community services report, wage report and a letter from MDA.

Next general meeting scheduled for Monday, November 13, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. The regular open meeting for bill discussion will be on Monday, November 20, 2006 at 3:00 p.m.
