General Board Meeting called to order at 7:05 p.m. by President Mr. Bettag.
Present were Directors Mr. Bettag, Mr. Schloss and Mr. Meyer, Chief Svetanics
and Ms. Vincent. There were no Citizens of the District present.
Mr. Bettag proposed an addition to the agenda of closed executive session under
RSMo. 610.021(3).
Motion by Mr. Meyer to accept the agenda as presented, 2nd by Mr. Schloss, roll
call vote - Mr. Bettag aye, Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Meyer aye.
Motion by Mr. Schloss to accept minutes from the general sessions of September
20, 2005 and September 27, 2005, and the executive session of September 8, 2005
as presented, 2nd by Mr. Bettag, roll call vote - Mr. Bettag aye, Mr. Schloss
aye, Mr. Meyer aye.
Mr. Schloss gave the treasurer’s report for the month ending September 30, 2005.
Mr. Schloss reported that revenue is up $127,907 above anticipated revenue due
to tax collections, ambulance fees and interest for the year. Mr. Schloss stated
that actual expenditures for the first nine months of the year are at 82.2% of
the annual budget.
Mr. Schloss reported that the District received $15,144 in tax revenue from St.
Louis County Department of Revenue and that $6,839 was from delinquent taxes
from years 2000 to 2003.
Mr. Schloss reported that we collected $32,532 in ambulance fees for the month
of September, and that we are $62,563 over the total budgeted amount of
collections for the year.

Chief Svetanics reported that we had our open house on the 15th and that we had
a really good turnout. The Red Cross was pleased that we had 16 people who
donated blood at the drive. The Box 8 Club provided food and drinks, and also
brought along a member’s 1956 Mack Fire Truck and a 1956

Ford - Fire Chief’s Car. All the children attending left with fire hats,
balloons, and a bag filled with coloring books, stickers, pens and pencils.
Everyone had a great time.
Chief Svetanics reported that Pvt. Krull is back to work after a three month
non-paid leave of absence.
Chief Svetanics reported that we will no longer be giving away free car seats
donated by Safe-Kids through the St. Louis County Health Department after they
received a letter from the Missouri Department of Transportation requesting 32
hours of certified training to be a distributor. Chief Svetanics reported that
we will keep installing car seats at no charge to the public and we are still
giving away free bicycle helmets received from St. Louis County.
Chief Svetanics reported that we had a collapsed sewer pipe repaired for around
$6,000 and Pumper 1610 blew a head gasket which will cost around $7,000 and is
scheduled to be repaired.
Chief Svetanics stated that South County Fire Alarm, Local 1889, is in
negotiations with their Board on salaries and benefits for a new contract.
Chief Svetanics reported that we purchased 2 gross of smoke detectors for Fire
Prevention Week, and are again checking door-to-door to see if residents have
working smoke detectors. This is our 3rd year of installing detectors at no cost
to all residents of Lemay.
Monthly reports presented on training by each crew member, maintenance report,
fire incident report and summary, ambulance statistics, ambulance monthly
lockbox credit report and MediClaims report, community services report, PIO
report, wage report, South County Fire Alarm Minutes and Treasurer Report and
St. Louis Metro Fire District Alliance Minutes, and two thank-you letters.
Motion by Mr. Schloss not to renew membership with the St. Louis Metro Fire
District Alliance, 2nd by Mr. Meyer – roll call vote, Mr. Bettag aye, Mr.
Schloss aye, Mr. Meyer aye.
Next general meeting scheduled for Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. The
regular open meeting for bill discussion scheduled for Tuesday, November 22,
2005 at 3:00 p.m.
