            General board meeting called to order at 4:30 p.m. by Chairman Jerry Schloss.  Present were Directors Mr. Schloss, Mr. Bettag and Mr. Meyer, Chief Svetanics and Ms. Vincent.  There were no Citizens from the District present.

 

            An addition to the executive session as Number 5.11 of medical insurance negotiations under §610.021(9) presented by Mr. Meyer.  Motion by Mr. Bettag to accept the amended agenda as presented, 2nd by Mr. Meyer, roll call vote Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Bettag aye, Mr. Meyer aye. 

 

            The purpose of this meeting was to discuss approve monthly expenses and to decide on the new pumper bids.  Checks were reviewed and signed. 

 

            Chief Svetanics reported on the two pumper bids and made his recommendation.

 

            Pierce made a bid of $337,000.00, and the Smeal bid was $298,000.00.  The Pierce representative brought up the fact that the 350 engine Smeal was recommending in their bid would not be large enough for the pumper.  The engineers at Smeal countered that the 350 was adequate but that it would not last as long as a 400 engine because of

wear and tear.  The larger engine would be an additional $7,800 added to the $298,000, bringing it to $305,800.  By prepaying for the chassis

now, we are able to receive a $5,152 reduction in price, bringing the total closer to $301,000.  Chief Svetanics explained that even with the larger engine, the Smeal bid is still $30,000 below that of Pierce and that we could have delivery by May or June of 2008.

 

            Motion by Mr. Meyer to proceed with recommendation of Chief Svetanics to purchase the Smeal pumper with the 400 engine and to prepay the chassis for an additional savings of approximately $5,200, 2nd by Mr. Bettag, roll call vote Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Bettag aye, Mr. Meyer aye. 

 

            Motion by Mr. Schloss to adjourn the general meeting and move to executive session at 5:05 p.m., 2nd by Mr. Meyer, roll call vote Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Bettag aye, Mr. Meyer aye.
