General Board Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Mr. Bettag.
Present were Directors Mr. Bettag, Mr. Schloss and Mr. Meyer, Chief Svetanics
and Ms. Vincent. Captain Bertelsmeier of Firefighters Local #2677 was also
present. There were no Citizens of the District present.
The Pledge of Allegiance led by Mr. Bettag.
Motion by Mr. Schloss to accept the agenda as presented with the addition of a
closed session under RSMo. 610.021(3), 2nd by Mr. Meyer, roll call vote Mr.
Bettag aye, Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Meyer aye.
Motion by Mr. Schloss to accept minutes from the general sessions of November
14, 2005 and November 22, 2005, and the executive sessions of November 4, 2005,
November 8, 2005, November 11, 2005, November 14, 2005 and November 28, 2005 as
presented, 2nd by Mr. Meyer, roll call vote Mr. Bettag aye, Mr. Schloss aye, Mr.
Meyer aye.
Mr. Schloss gave the treasurer’s report for the month ending November 30, 2005.
Mr. Schloss reported that revenue is up $213,909 above anticipated revenue due
to tax collections, ambulance fees and interest for the year. Mr. Schloss stated
that actual expenditures for the first eleven months of the year are at 94.9, or
$127,792 which is under the budgeted amount set for 2005.
Mr. Schloss stated that the District received $165,490 in tax revenue from St.
Louis County Department of Revenue during the month of November and that $7,783
was from delinquent taxes from years 1999 to 2004.
Mr. Schloss reported that we had another great month collecting $41,094 in
ambulance fees in November and that we are $100,640 over the total budgeted
amount of ambulance collections for the year.
Mr. Schloss stated that we are finalizing the budget with accountant Joe
Schnieders and are expecting to file it with St. Louis County by next week.

Motion by Mr. Meyer to accept the treasurer’s report as presented, 2nd by Mr.

Chief Svetanics reported that the Medical Officer requested a separate computer
in which to file the ambulance information to the State and our medical billing
company. Motion by Mr. Meyer to approve purchase of a computer for the medical
officer as not to exceed $1,000, 2nd by Mr. Bettag, roll call vote Mr. Bettag
aye, Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Meyer aye.
Chief Svetanics reported that we are in need of a new air compressor for
breathing apparatus as ours will cost $3,000 to repair and is very old. A new
one will cost between $10,000 to $18,000. Motion by Mr. Schloss to solicit bids
for a breathing air compressor, 2nd by Mr. Bettag, roll call vote Mr. Bettag
aye, Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Meyer aye.
Chief Svetanics reported that they are finished negotiating with Union Local
#2677 representatives regarding pay raises and medical increases. Mr. Bettag
stated the Board will vote on these revisions to the M.O.U. at next open meeting
scheduled on Tuesday, December 20th at 3:00 p.m.
Chief Svetanics reported that we had one serious fire recently and that the men
did a good job in knocking it down.
Chief Svetanics reported that the employee service ratings are expected to be
finished by January 1, 2006.
Chief Svetanics stated that we anticipate a record high attendance at the
Christmas Party this year to be held at Cusanelli’s Restaurant.
Monthly reports presented on training by each crew member, maintenance report,
fire incident report and summary, ambulance statistics, ambulance monthly
lockbox credit report and MediClaims report, community services report, PIO
report, wage report, South County Fire Alarm Minutes and Treasurer’s Report, St.
Louis Metro Fire District Alliance Minutes and letters from Captain Bertelsmeier,
Lt. Michalski and the United Way.
Next general meeting scheduled for Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. The
regular open meeting for bill discussion scheduled for Tuesday, January 24, 2006
at 5:00 p.m.
