General Board Meeting called to order at 8:35 a.m. by President Mr. Schloss. Present were Directors Mr. Schloss, Mr. Bettag and Mr. Meyer, Chief Svetanics and Ms. Vincent. Also present was District accountant Joe Schnieders. There were no Citizens of the District present.
Mr. Schnieders presented Amended Budget for Board review. Motion by Mr. Bettag to approve Amended Budget for Calendar Year 2008 as presented by Mr. Schnieders, 2nd by Mr. Meyer, roll call vote Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Bettag aye, Mr. Meyer aye.
The second purpose of meeting was to review the Estimate of Non-Binding 2009 Property Tax Rate as prepared by Mr. Schnieders from the St. Louis County preliminary tax assessments. Motion by Mr. Meyer to accept the proposed Estimate of Non-Binding 2009 Property Tax Rate as presented by Mr. Schnieders, 2nd by Mr. Bettag, roll call vote Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Bettag aye, Mr. Meyer aye.
Mr. Schnieders left the meeting at 9:29 a.m.
The Board reviewed the telephone bid proposed by Communications Technologies, Inc. Motion by Mr. Meyer to approve the purchase of new telephones and hardware plus a wireless conference phone and installation included in proposed bid from Communications Technologies, Inc., 2nd by Mr. Bettag, roll call vote Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Bettag aye, Mr. Meyer aye.
Motion by Mr. Bettag to pass Resolution 4-09 of the Board of Directors directing any and all outstanding shares held with MetLife, Inc., the MetLife Policyholder Trust, Mellon Investor Services, BNY Mellon Shareowner Services and/or Metropolitan Life Insurance Company be sold and that proceeds be made payable to the Lemay Fire Protection District as presented, 2nd by Mr. Meyer, roll call vote Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Bettag aye, Mr. Meyer aye.
Chief Svetanics reported that Pvt. Jeff Wingate will be leaving the District and that his last day will be April 11, 2009. Chief Svetanics recommended that the Board hire Dan McKelvey, one of the applicants who were interviewed. Motion by Mr. Meyer to accept Chief Svetanics’ recommendation to hire Dave McKelvey, 2nd by Mr. Bettag, roll call vote Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Bettag aye, Mr. Meyer aye.

Chief Svetanics reported that the written part of the Engineer’s Test has been taken and that the Practical Test will be given in the near future. Those who took the test were Pvt. Atherton, Lt. Michalski, Pvt. Ross and Pvt. Rasnic.
