General board meeting called to order at 3:40 p.m. by Chairman Jerry Schloss. Present were Directors Mr. Schloss, Mr. Bettag and Mr. Meyer, Chief Svetanics and Ms. Vincent. District Accountant Joe Schnieders and Captain Dan Bertelsmeier were also present. There were no Citizens from the District present.

Mr. Bettag announced one addition to the agenda, Number 7.24, Mr. Joe Schnieders. There was also one change to the agenda, Number 8.11 moved to an executive session. Motion by Mr. Schloss to accept the agenda with changes as presented, 2nd by Mr. Bettag, roll call vote Mr. Schloss, aye, Mr. Bettag, aye, Mr. Meyer aye.

Mr. Schnieders was here to discuss the decline of tax revenue and to report on decreased collection rates as opposed to budget increases for the last few years. Mr. Schnieders will make a written report of these findings to submit at a later meeting. Mr. Schnieders will also be amending the treasurer’s reports’ terminology to be more explanatory.

Mr. Schnieders left the meeting at 4:50 p.m.

Motion by Mr. Meyer to accept minutes from the general sessions of April 18, 2007 and April 25, 2007 as corrected, 2nd by Mr. Schloss, roll call vote Mr. Mr. Schloss, aye, Mr. Bettag, aye, Mr. Meyer aye.

Mr. Meyer gave the treasurer’s report for the month ending April 30, 2007. Mr. Meyer reported that revenue collected is above budget so far this year and that actual expenditures for the fourth month of the year are at 34.5%.

Mr. Meyer reported that we collected $39,446 in ambulance fees the month of April, which brings the total for the year over the amount budgeted for the first quarter of 2007.

Chief Svetanics gave the Chief’s report and stated that Stryker Medical is trying to replace our defective stretcher with a demonstration model, but is offering us a longer warranty. Chief Svetanics reported that we do not want a used model.

Chief Svetanics reported that the “Birthday Party at the Firehouse” donation made to the Backstoppers auction raised $500.

Chief Svetanics stated that he gave a very short presentation at the Lemay Chamber of Commerce Luncheon meeting on Wednesday, May 9, 2007, which was attended by many area businessmen.

Chief Svetanics reported that we received a call to request installation of smoke detectors from the mother of a family who had a fully involved house fire on West Arlee this month stating that the detectors woke them up in time to save their lives and that she wanted to have some installed in her home. We are always happy to install smoke detectors for free in homes of all Lemay Citizens.

Chief Svetanics also reported that we are waiting for the final outcome on Friday of this week of the Attorney General’s Minimum Wage ruling.

Monthly reports presented on training by each crew member, maintenance report, fire incident report and summary, ambulance statistics, ambulance monthly lockbox report and MediClaims report, P.R. report, community services report, wage report, letter from Lemay Chamber of Commerce and letter from St. Louis County Department of Planning.

Next general meeting scheduled for Monday, June 11, 2007 at 3:30 p.m. The regular open meeting for bill discussion will be on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at 3:30 p.m.

Motion by Mr. Bettag to recess general session and reconvene to closed executive session at 5:13 p.m., 2nd by Mr. Meyer, roll call vote Mr. Schloss, aye, Mr. Bettag, aye, Mr. Meyer aye. Captain Bertelsmeier left meeting at this time.
