Minutes Board of Directors Meeting, 8/16/04
General Board Meeting called to order at 7:01 p.m. by President Mr. Stonebraker. Present were Directors Mr. Stonebraker, Mr. Schloss and Mr. Bettag. Also present were Ms. Vincent, Local 2677 President Captain Bertelsmeier and one Citizen of the District, Mr. Tom Call.
Pledge of allegiance led by Tom Coll.
Mr. Stonebraker made a motion to accept the agenda, 2nd by Mr. Schloss, roll call vote, all ayes.
Motion by Mr. Stonebraker to accept the minutes from the general sessions of July 12, 2004 and July 21, 2004, and the executive session of July 20, 2004, 2nd by Mr. Schloss, roll call vote, all ayes.
Mr. Bettag gave the treasurers report for the month ending July 31, 2004. Mr. Bettag reported the Districts expenditures are 60 percent for the year accounted for. Mr. Bettag stated that we received $19,440 in tax revenue in July and that the General Fund is doing well and the Pension and Central Dispatch Funds are right on target. The Ambulance Fund is running below what we budgeted for the year, which is set at $25,000 per month in collected fees. Mr. Bettag confirmed that we collected $11,339 the month of July, but to keep in mind that we changed agencies to handle these collections and it will take a few months for the fees to adjust during the transformation. Mr. Bettag stated that we will need to keep tabs on how many weeks lag between service and collections to be able to report on the new agency. Motion by Mr. Stonebraker to accept the treasurers report, 2nd by Mr. Schloss, roll call vote, all ayes.
Due to Chief Svetanics being on vacation, Mr. Stonebraker read from the Chiefs Report. Mr. Stonebraker reported that the Board met with John Antone of Hawk iSolutions Group, Inc., and agreed on a maintenance agreement for the computers.
Monthly reports presented on training by each crew member, 40 hour education schedule for training, maintenance report, fire incident report and summary, ambulance statistics, lockbox monthly credit report, community services report, wage report, public relations report and St. Louis Metro Fire District Alliance Minutes.
Mr. Stonebraker stated the District installed 23 smoke detectors in July. We also installed 33 infant car seats and checked installation on another 7. The District also has bicycle helmets to give away for free donated by St. Louis County. You must be a St. Louis County resident to be eligible for the helmets and must call to make an appointment for the fittings.
Mr. Stonebraker also reported that he and Mr. Schloss attended the St. Louis Metro Alliance meeting wherein one of the guest speakers, Senator Yeckel, was presented with a helmet for her efforts on behalf of the Alliance.
Next open meeting is the tax rate hearing scheduled for Monday, August 23, 2004, at 7:00 p.m. The tax rate information is posted on our web site, www.lemayfireprotectiondistrict.com, advertised in the Suburban Journal on Sunday, August 22, 2004, and displayed at the District and other area businesses.
Next general meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 20, 2004, at 7:00 p.m. The regular open meeting for bill discussion is scheduled for Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at 3:30 p.m.
Motion by Mr. Schloss to adjourn the General Board meeting at 7:32 p.m., 2nd by Mr. Stonebraker, roll call vote, all ayes.
